Dr Tilman Altenburg was invited to join the National Hydrogen Council, an independent body of experts appointed by the German government. The Council supports the State Secretaries‘ Committee for Hydrogen in the further development and implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy. Among other things, a hydrogen import strategy is currently being developed in which various objectives are to be balanced – above all the market ramp-up with a secure supply for Germany and Europe on the one hand, and higher added value, local decarbonisation as well as inclusive socio-ecological development in the potential export countries in the Global South on the other.
