  • Christine Hackenesch acting head of the programme “Inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation“

    Since 15 June, Christine Hackenesch has been acting head of the research programme “Inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation with the global south„. Dr Hackenesch has been a member of the academic staff of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) for more than ten years. Her research and policy advice focuses on policies of the EU for global sustainable development, support for democratization by the EU and relations beween China and Africa.

    The previous head of the programme “Inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation with the global south”, Stephan Klingebiel, has been heading the UNDP Global Policy Centre for Global Development Partnerships in Seoul, South Korea, since 16 June 2019. Dr Klingebiel is on leave from DIE until June 2020 at the latest.

    The work of the Policy Centres is relevant for the strategic development and the allocation of funds of UNDP. They aim to build up various partnerships between politics and civil society, evaluate their effectiveness and foster innovation. The UNDP Development Centre in Seoul focuses on trilateral development partnerships to support the exchange of best practices and learning with regard to innovative policy instruments.

  • Christine Hackenesch übernimmt kommissarische Ko-Leitung des Programms „Inter- und Transnationale Zusammenarbeit“

    Zum 15. Juni hat Christine Hackenesch die kommissarische Ko-Leitung des Forschungsprogramms „Inter- und Transnationale Zusammenarbeit mit dem globalen Süden“ übernommen. Frau Hackenesch ist seit mehr als zehn Jahren wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am DIE und beschäftigt sich in ihrer Forschung und Politikberatung mit der Politik der EU für globale nachhaltige Entwicklung, Demokratieförderung durch die EU und China-Afrika-Beziehungen.

    Der bisherige Ko-Leiter des Programms „Inter- und Transnationale Zusammenarbeit mit dem globalen Süden“ Stephan Klingebiel hat zum 16. Juni 2019 die Leitung das UNDP Global Policy Centre for Global Development Partnerships in Seoul (Südkorea) übernommen. Dr. Klingebiel wurde dafür bis maximal Juni 2020 beurlaubt.

    Die Policy Centres bilden eine wichtige Grundlage für die strategische Ausrichtung und die Mittelallokation von UNDP. Sie bauen u.a. vielfältige Partnerschaften zwischen zivilgesellschaftlichen und politischen Akteuren auf, evaluieren ihre Wirksamkeit und fördern Innovationen. Der Fokus des UNDP Global Policy Centre in Seoul liegt auf trilateralen Partnerschaften, mit denen das Lernen und der Erfahrungsaustausch zu innovativen Policy-Instrumenten gefördert wird.

    Imme Scholz, Acting Director of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), took part in the council meeting of the Foundation Environment and Development North Rhine-Westphalia on 6 June. The government of North Rhine-Westphalia created the foundation in 2001 with to promote civil society engagement for sustainable development. Projects range from environmental education and fair trade to global and intercultural learning.

    The Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Armin Laschet, is Chair of the foundation’s council.

    Am 6. Mai nahm die kommissarische Direktorin des DIE, Imme Scholz, an der Sitzung des Stiftungsrates der Stiftung Umwelt und Entwicklung Nordrhein-Westfalen teil. Auftrag der 2001 durch die Landesregierung gegründeten Stiftung ist die Förderung bürgerschaftlichen Engagements für nachhaltige Entwicklung. Sie fördert unter anderem Projekte zu Umweltbildung, fairem Handel sowie zu globalem und interkulturellem Lernen.

    Vorsitzender des Stiftungsrates ist der Ministerpräsident des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, Armin Laschet.

  • Certification as family-conscious institute: audit berufundfamilie

    For the third time, the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) received its certification as a family-conscious institute by the audit workandfamily (berufundfamilie). The certificate was handed over to Horst Jobelius, head of general administration at DIE (see picture). The audit workandfamily increases the awareness for the opportunities of balancing work and family life, contributes to a family-friendly culture at DIE and increases the visibility of DIE as an attractive employer.
