On 25-26 June, IDOS hosted the 4th meeting of the sustainability advisory councils of the federal states at the invitation of the NRW Sustainability Advisory Council (“NRW Nachhaltigkeitsbeirat”) and with the support of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE).
Prof. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, IDOS Director and Co-Chair NRW Sustainability Advisory Council and Dr Jürgen Janssen, Secretary General German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), reflected on the self-conception and potential of sustainability advisory boards. Katja Dörner, Mayor of the Federal City of Bonn, Vice-President German Association of Cities and Member of the RNE provided an impulse on integrating sustainability into the multi-level political system.
Further participants discussed in various workshops on: Sustainability reporting by municipalities and (municipal) companies using the example of the Sustainable Municipality Reporting Framework (BNK), Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR), and German Sustainability Code (DNK), the Successful co-design of the transformation by citizens at municipal level, Map/ing Sustainability – Culture and Arts beyond SDGs – transform.NRW, and Science meets fiction – Images of the future for a world after 2030 – HumboldtN.
