Focusing on the intersection of environment, climate and mobilities, the third annual Environmental and Climate Mobilities Network (ECMN) Conference served as a key platform for sharing approaches discussing research findings and fostering collaboration. It took place from 8 to 10 July 2025 in Bonn.
Hosted by the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), the event brought together experts working on migration and human (im)mobility in the context of climate change. The Federal Ministry for Development and Economic Cooperation (BMZ) funded Social Cohesion in Displacement Contexts (SOCODISCO) project played an active role throughout the event. The IDOS team began its engagement on 7 July with a pre-conference networking session designed to connect research and practice. Participants explored future research directions, policy priorities, and the challenges and opportunities that define the field of climate (im)mobility.

During the main conference, SOCODISCO researchers shared new insights through two presentations. Dr Susan S. Ekoh (IDOS) examined Cyclone-Displacement and Social Cohesion in Central Mozambique, asking how durable current solutions really are. Darius Savior Ankamah (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation) presented on Climate-Induced Human Mobility and Psychosocial Resilience, highlighting the socio-psychosocial impacts of displacement and coping strategies in Keta, Ghana.

Darius also contributed a photo exhibition, providing a visual perspective on the lived experiences of climate-affected communities.
Together, these contributions underscored SOCODISCO’s commitment to advancing understanding and dialogue on climate change, (im)mobility, and social cohesion.
