The Council for International Economic Understanding, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) and Dalber hosted the hybrid “IMEC Conclave 2025: Enhancing Connectivity and Economic Growth across Continents”. Dr Axel Berger was invited as a panellist to discuss what Europe would gain from the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) – an initiative launched at the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023. He highlighted the importance of secure, resilient and sustainability-oriented trade routes. Europe in particular has a lot to gain from deeper integration with India and the Middle East and Global Gateway provides the necessary instruments for such cooperation. He stressed the importance of political leadership for realising IMEC as a long-term geo-political and geo-economic project for a cooperative world. In this regard, Dr Berger urged stakeholders to pay particular attention to an inclusive conception and development of the IMEC to harness its full potential for people, peaceful cooperation and prosperity.
