Dr Christine Hackenesch, Senior Researcher and Project Lead at IDOS, successfully completed her habilitation at the University of Mainz in December. She wrote her cumulative habilitation thesis on „Political Parties in Foreign Policy and International Relations: Populist Radical Right Parties and the Chinese Communist Party.“ In her habilitation thesis, she analyses the influence of right-wing populist parties and the Chinese Communist Party on the EU’s and China’s foreign policies. At the end of the habilitation process, Christine Hackenesch gave an inaugural lecture at the University of Mainz on the topic: „A new strategic rivalry? EU democracy support and the influence of China in Africa“.
