On 18 August, IDOS welcomed the Committee for Europe and International Affairs of the NRW State Parliament to the Institute. During the meeting, IDOS emphasised the importance of research and cooperation in international networks.
On 18 August 2023, IDOS welcomed the Committee for Europe and International Affairs of the NRW State Parliament to the Institute. In addition to the committee members, Nathanael Liminski, Minister for Federal and European Affairs, International Affairs and Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Head of the State Chancellery, State Secretary Dr Markus Speich as well as representatives of the state government took part in the public session. Katja Dörner, Mayor of the City of Bonn, Prof. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director of IDOS, as well as representatives and members of the One World Network NRW were invited as guests.
The meeting began with a presentation by Mayor Katja Dörner, outlining how the UN City of Bonn contributes to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bonn. Afterwards, Anna-Katharina Hornidge presented the thematic priorities of IDOS’ work. She explained how IDOS contributes to addressing current challenges in the field of sustainable development and emphasised the importance of research and cooperation in international networks in order to focus on cooperation instead of isolation, even in times of geopolitical changes and tensions. Udo Schlüter, Eine Welt Netz NRW, presented civil society positions on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, which was followed by an exchange between the representatives of the committee and the speakers.
