Celebrating 15 years of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Network

Logo: 15 Years of MGG

This year we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of our Managing Global Governance network. In a three-day online conference, members and partners reflected on achievements, current issues and future perspectives of the network.

The online conference was opened by Dr Ariane Hildebrandt, Director General at German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and Prof Dr Anna Katharina Hornidge, Director of IDOS. Together, we looked back on the achievements of the network, acknowledge and exchanged on present issues and envisioned the future of Global Governance in 2030 and which role the MGG Network can play in achieving this vision.

More than 90 alumni and partner visited the conference to engage in interactive formats. Network members presented on how to promote mainstreaming gender in all SDGs within the Network, or how to promote sustainable initiatives in the private sector. Rounding up the conference, participants developed measures that can be implemented by the Network and its members, in the short- and long-term perspective.

The event was communicated and hosted on the MGG Online Platform. The celebration Website, launched on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the programme, contains information on the event and a collection of change stories initiated by MGG. Network members, initiators and supporters of MGG, and previous and current colleagues in the team at IDOS have expressed their birthday wishes in a jubilee video.

From a broader perspective, a current column reflects on levels and success conditions of the impact of MGG as a transnational knowledge network.

IDOS is proud of 15 years successful network development together with the MGG partner institutions since the first edition of the MGG Academy (then Global Governance School) in 2007. Today, it belongs to the strategic infrastructure of the institute.
