Shaping Sustainable Futures together: IDOS at the BMZ Open Day

As part of the Open Day of the new Federal government on 23 and 24 August, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) opened its doors to the public. Once again, IDOS was on site in Berlin with its own information stand.

Dr Emmanuel Theodore Asimeng, researcher in sustainable urban planning, and Sabrina Heuwinkel, communications officer, informed visitors about the institute’s current activities. They also invited the public to contribute their own ideas and visions for shaping sustainable futures. Visitors could share their thoughts on a pinboard. Contributions included ideas such as affordable housing, education, food for all, mindfulness towards one another, and a fair financial system.

On Sunday, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali Radovan and BMZ State Secretary Niels Annen visited the IDOS information stand and talked with us about the institute’s ongoing research, policy advisory work as well as IDOS’s training programmes: the Postgraduate Programme for Sustainability Cooperation (PGP), the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Academy and the Shaping Futures Academy – all of which promote international knowledge exchange and mutual learning.
