On 26 November, IDOS researchers Dr Max-Otto Baumann and Dr Anna Novoselova, together with Prof. Stephan Klingebiel, hosted a roundtable in Berlin to discuss North-South relations and multilateralism at the United Nations.
The discussion was based on a new joint study by IDOS and Cepei. Released at a time of heightened tensions between the global North and South, when constructive global dialogue has become increasingly challenging, the study offers insights into the dynamics of the G77 and nudges relevant actors, including the group itself and its global North counterparts, to rethink their strategies for engagement. The roundtable brought together officials from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Foreign Ministry, alongside experts from think tanks, political foundations, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
