Members of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Network participated in the second digitainable Forum of the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research on 23 and 24 February, highlighting the intersection of digitalisation with global citizenship in digital training formats.

Dr. Tatjana Reiber, Head of the training and dialogue programme MGG Academy, showcased the methodology and outcomes of its facilitation as a virtual training program in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Benjamin Stewart represented the MGG Network’s EU Horizon 2020 project, Promoting Research on Digitalisation in Emerging Powers and Europe towards Sustainable Development (PRODIGEES). Head of the MGG Programme, Dr. Wulf Reiners facilitated the workshop, with visualisation and input assistance from Dr. Anna Schwachula, Eva Lynders and Isabelle Eberz with Judith Böckle and David Kuhn. After two short presentations by Tatjana Reiber and Benjamin Stewart, the participants, representing partners from the MGG Network, the Bonn Alliance and beyond, interacted in quick-thinking brainstorming sessions on the topic of digital training formats and global citizenship.
The workshop contributed to the digitainable Forum by addressing digitalisation’s role in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically “Quality Education” target 4.7 on global citizenship and Goal 17 on “Partnerships for Sustainable Development”. The digitainable Forum organizers, Dr. Mahsa Motlagh and Dr. Shivam Gupta who study the effects of digitalisation subsects (mobile internet technologies, blockchain, Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, machine learning, virtual and augmented reality and 3D printing) on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their targets. They were supported in the facilitation of the Digitainable Forum by Evelien Fiselier, who is an alumna of the MGG Academy 2020. The results of the workshop were taken up by Wulf Reiners during his contribution to the concluding panel of the digitainable Forum, and they will inform future knowledge cooperation initiatives within the MGG Network.
