In October and November, the Managing Global Governance (MGG) network intensified its collaboration with Schools of Public Administration (SPAs) from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa, and the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC). Building on the jointly developed ‘New York Programme of Action’ (2018), DIE and UNSSC hosted the international MGG online conference ‘Training towards sustainability for the public sector during and after the pandemic’ (27-29 October) to discuss the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic for both the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and respective training for civil servants. The conference also served as a kick off for the wider ‘Building Back Better’ initiative, conceptualised by UNSSC in coordination with DIE, which entails a series of knowledge sharing and training formats, including an online Training of Trainers (ToT) over two and a half months with participants from the MGG network. In this context, on 19 November, MGG also implemented a session during the Innovation Week 2020 ‘(Re)Imagining and Building Futures’, Latin America’s largest public innovation event, carried out by the Brazilian School of Public Administration (ENAP). As one of the most international and interactive formats, participants exchanged on innovation, priorities, and conditions for sustainability training and learning amid the Covid pandemic.
