Anna-Katharina Hornidge was nominated as a special invitee to the newly founded High-Level Empowered Board on Green Transition established by the Indian Think Tank Observer Research Foundation. The inaugural meeting of the Board took place at the London School of Economics and set the direction and structures of the board envisaged as a strategic platform to guide India’s role in shaping sustainable transition in the Post-Belém period, with a view to integrate perspectives across sectors and countries in the South and North. The meeting was a valuable occasion to engage in high-level policy and strategy debates on the climate-stabilising transformation of energy systems in India and beyond.

BOX: Launch South-North Commission

IDOS welcomes the launch of the South-North Commission on Development. Its launch is timely: political alliances for equitable and climate-stabilising futures are urgently needed. A first signal of that commitment is the name South-North Commission. The ordering reflects where the future of this planet lies – and who must be genuinely involved in shaping it. IDOS congratulates the Co-Chairs of the Commission, former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and former President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla, and wishes them every success in taking on these responsible roles.
