IDOS at WIDER Development Conference

The conference convenes experts to examine the latest research on contemporary crises and transformations of the global economic order and the rising influence of Global South countries.

The 2026 UNU (United Nations University) WIDER Development Conference took place from 18 to 20 March 2026 in New Delhi, India, in collaboration with the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID). The conference focused on “Growth, governance, and geopolitics in a fractured world order”.

Prof. Stephan Klingebiel (IDOS), was invited to contribute to the opening panel on “The future of global economic governance in a fragmented world order”, together with Ambassador Dr Len Ishmael (Policy Centre for the New South, Rabat), Prof Andy Sumner (King’s College London), Prof Justin Lin (Institute of New Structural Economics, Peking University, and former Chief Economist of the World Bank), and Dr Caren Grown (Brookings Institution, Washington, DC). The panel was moderated by Prof Deepak Nayyar (Vice-Chairman of the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID) and former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University).
