With its interdisciplinary approach, transdisciplinary setup and cross-continental inspiration, the Research Colloquium on Triangular Cooperation offers a research-focused space for student presentations and exchanges.

Co-hosted by IDOS expert Dr Sebastian Haug, together with partners at Instituto Mora (Mexico), the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia) and Technical University Darmstadt, the Research Colloquium was established in February 2024. It has been selected as an “outstanding teaching in political science” by the German Association for Political Science (DVPW) and Schader foundation.
The Research Colloquium provides a transnational research-focused platform for student presentations and science-policy exchanges on triangular cooperation, i.e. a development cooperation modality that combines established North-South and South-South cooperation formats. Colloquium participants have included Master’s and PhD students as well as more senior researchers and practitioners – including government officials and representatives from international organisations – from Australia, Brazil, Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Zambia. According to participant feedback, the innovative nature of the Colloquium centres on the combination of three dimensions: its interdisciplinary approach to academic inquiry, its transdisciplinary setup and cross-continental inspiration it has provided for participants to form a research-focused community through and beyond Colloquium sessions.
