This year’s workshop brought together researchers from diverse institutions to discuss innovative empirical research on health and development.

The event was successfully hosted at Technische Universität München by Janina Steinert and Nikkil Sudharsanan, co-organized by IDOS senior researcher Christoph Strupat.
A particular highlight was the strong participation of IDOS researchers:
- Alina Sowa presented her study “Can Health Insurance Reduce Gender Disparities in Child Labor and Education? Evidence from Ghana”, providing important insights into how access to health coverage can contribute to reducing gender inequalities among children.
- Paula von Haaren showcased her research on “Climate Change Resilience through Health Systems: The Role of Healthcare Access in Shielding Children from adverse health impacts in sub-Saharan Africa”, emphasizing how health systems can foster resilience against climate impacts.

The workshop once again demonstrated the value of linking health economics and development research and highlighted how health systems can promote equity and resilience in low- and middle-income countries.
