On 8 October, senior policymakers from over ten EU member states, the European Commission, and the United Nations, alongside experts from the European Think Tanks Group (ETTG) network gathered in Paris for the 4th Annual Dialogue on the EU and Global Development.

Against the backdrop of a global polycrisis and significant shifts in the multilateral system, the event provided a forum for an informal, closed-door exchange. Discussions focused on three critical areas for the EU’s international cooperation (1) The state of multilateralism and the challenges to global governance; (2) The EU’s strategy for alliances in a fragmented geopolitical landscape; and (3) The effective use of the EU’s financial instruments, particularly the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
IDOS was represented with Dr Axel Berger and Dr Niels Keijzer. The summary of the discussions will feed into an ETTG policy brief that will be published in a few weeks from now on the website.
