From 14 to 23 July 2025, the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) was held in New York to discuss the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Germany, together with 34 other member states, presented its third Voluntary National Review (VNR).

The Science Platform Sustainability 2030 (wpn2030) and SDSN Germany, represented by Dr Axel Berger and Dr Anne Ellersiek (Research Institute for Sustainability at GFZ – RIFS), were actively involved as part of the German delegation – both in the consultations for the preparation of the report and in numerous events and activities on site.
A particular highlight was the official side event on ‘Interministerial coordination for achieving the SDGs: Insights from research and practice’. The event was organised by wpn2030, SDSN Germany and IDOS in collaboration with the Czech Ministry of the Environment and took place on 23 July 2025 at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Sarah Löpelt opened the event by presenting initial research findings on interministerial coordination in different country contexts. Key findings from the event have been published online.
