On 15 May 2025, this event explored understanding of development policy as cooperation policy, built on strategic partnerships with countries of all income groups and on all continents. Directors Dr Stefan Mair and Prof. Anna-Katharina Hornidge delivered opening remarks, which were followed by perspectives shared by Department Head Christian Buck from the Federal Foreign Office and Department Head Dr Steinhilber from the Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation. IDOS researchers contributed case study insights from Morocco and Bangladesh and highlighted how to engage meaningfully with partner countries’ priorities and find common ground in times of disruption. The format of the expert dialogue is part of IDOS’ think tank collaboration and an expression of the endeavour to bring together diverse and strong voices as part of the reform of German development policy.
