New Head of the Shaping Futures Academy

We are pleased to welcome Dr Elizabeth Chepkemboi Kötter as the new Head of Shaping Futures: African-European Network on Development and Sustainability and Senior Researcher in the Programme Inter- and Transnational Cooperation / Training.

Kötter was born and raised in Kenya and has completed her Bachelors of Education (Arts) degree from Kenyatta University. For four years after that, she worked as a teacher and managed library and information resources at school before coming to Germany on a DAAD Scholarship in 2006 to study for an MBA (International Management) at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University (HfWU). She holds a Dr. of Business Administration (Dr. rer. Pol) from the School of Economic Disciplines at the University of Siegen.

She has experience in research and academia as well as the private and public sector. She worked in the field of international management of employees in Frankfurt and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, before returning to Germany on a scholarship to join the Research School of Business and Economics (RSBE), an interdisciplinary school funded by the University of Siegen and intended to explore the subject of “decentralized organizations”. Her research area was on the impact of internationalisation on companies and their employees and particularly on the relationship between international assignments of employees and entrepreneurship. Kötter has also worked in contracted projects funded by the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft (LEG) Thueringen mbH International in Erfurt and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in Berlin, targeting German companies to promote investment, foreign trade and development cooperation in Africa. Her last position before joining IDOS was in the coordination office for the BMWK’s Africa Business Network.
