Alina Sowa and Dr Christoph Strupat gained profound insights into the dimensions of gender inequality and the impact of social policy measures in Ghana during their research stay in Accra.
As part of the DFG project Gender Inequality and Social Policy, Alina Sowa and Dr Christoph Strupat travelled to the University of Ghana in Accra in January and February 2024. This visit enabled an intensive exchange with project partners, Prof. Bernardin Senadza and Prof. Edward Nketiah-Amponsah from the Department of Economics, focusing on the progress of two joint studies.
During their stay, Alina Sowa engaged in numerous discussions with experts from various disciplines, including African Studies, Sociology, as well as Law and Economics. This interdisciplinary exchange provided deep insights into the multifaceted dimensions of gender inequality and the impact of social policy measures in Ghana. Additionally, Alina Sowa presented one of the two studies, „Matrilineal Family Norms and Gender Differences in Schooling and Child Labor: Evidence from an Inheritance Reform in Ghana“, during a seminar hosted by the Department of Economics.
