At the SDG Summit in September 2023, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a new conference with the objective to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: The Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC).
The inaugural Hamburg Sustainability Conference will be held on 07 to 08 October 2024. Organised as an initiative of the United Nations (UNDP), the German Federal Government (BMZ), the Umweltstiftung Michael Otto, and the City of Hamburg, the conference serves as a global development policy platform that brings together leading minds from politics, business, science, civil society, and multilateral organisations. The aim is to design joint solutions and push for breakthroughs that accelerate development towards the SDGs. The conference seeks to establish a trustful dialogue between the global south and the global north and to activate the potential of the private sector for SDG commitment, investment, and action.
As the scientific partner, IDOS forms part of the HSC initiative. IDOS will, jointly with its international networks, organise roundtables and prepare policy briefs on key issues of global sustainability such as reform of the international financial architecture, green economy and future pathways of sustainability transformations. IDOS also will invite to a scientific symposium to bring the latest research on global sustainability issues into dialogue with key actors from policy, business and civil society present at the HSC.
While access to the HSC is granted by invitation only, you can sign up here with the promotion code HSC24-IDOS to express your interest and we will get in touch with you.
