IDOS contribution to Think7 and Think20

In 2023, IDOS contributed significantly to consultative processes under Japan’s G7 and India’s G20 presidencies. While researchers co-authored policy briefs of different task forces, Prof. Anna-Katharina Hornidge co-chaired the T7 Task Force on science and digitalisation.

In addition, Dr Axel Berger, Deputy Director (interim) co-chaired the T20 Task Force on Macroeconomics and Trade. Besides numerous publications written by IDOS staff in the context of the respective processes and subsequently to contextualise policy developments and results, the Directorate and individual researchers participated, both as organisers and speakers, at various high-level T7 and T20 events, including the T7 Summit in Tokyo and the T20 Summit in Mysore. Most recently, Anna-Katharina Hornidge was involved in the T7 Handover Event, in which the Japanese T7 Presidency was handed over to Italy, while Axel Berger accompanied the handover of the Indian T20 Presidency to Brazil in Cape Town as part of the Cape Town Conversation Conference. In the coming year, IDOS will continue to contribute its expertise to the advisory processes of the T7 and T20 in order to strengthen transregional dialogue spaces within and between the G7 and the G20, of which the latter has been expanded this year to include the African Union.
