The research exchanges are facilitated by the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation staff exchange project, Promoting Research on Digitalisation in Emerging Powers and Europe Towards Sustainable Development (PRODIGEES). The project is coordinated by IDOS and brings together network partners from Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and the EU.

PRODIGEES fellow Dr Medelina Hendytio, who is Deputy Director of CSIS, researches how think tanks engage with digital platforms, on the research level as well as on communications and network level.  The study is a comparison between contexts in Germany and Indonesia.

A few doors down the hall, PRODIGEES fellow Prof. Juliana Mansur from FGV researches how (and if) digital technologies empower female entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. Juliana Mansur also makes a comparative study between Brazil and Germany.

In parallel, PRODIGEES facilitates more research exchanges between network partners during the summer period, including from South Africa and Indonesia to EU-based PRODIGEES partners.

Recent meetings with the PRODIGEES External Scientific Advisory Board and with the project’s European Research Executive Agency (REA) Project Officer affirmed PRODIGEES’ successful implementation despite Covid-19 related difficulties in the first two years. The project implementation greatly benefits from the extraordinary interest in network cooperation, long-term knowledge cooperation and the topicality of the research topic, ie. digitalisation for sustainability.
