BRIN and IDOS start a collaboration

With the signing of the Letter of Intent, the two institutions now aim to collaborate academically in the future.

On 9 June, BRIN, the National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia, represented by Dr Fadjar Thufail, Director of the Research Center for Area Studies, and IDOS signed a Letter of Intent. The signing was attended by Agus Maulana Attabrani, Consul for Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs, of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Frankfurt and Dr Sven Grimm, Head of the Department of Inter- and Transnational Cooperation at IDOS. The agreement is the starting point for future academic cooperation between the two institutions. Afterwards, Dr Thufail gave a lecture on „Bridging STS (Science and Technology Studies) and Critical Area Studies as a Framework for BRIN-IDOS Collaboration“ and reflected with IDOS scholars on the historical development of the research field of regional studies up to the current approach of decolonisation of knowledge production as well as the increasing importance of scientific South-South cooperation.
