Launch of the Europe Sustainable Development Report (ESDR) 2021
On 14 December 2021, the third edition of the ESDR has been launched online by the global SDSN, SDSN Europe and the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP). The launch event featured high-level representatives from government, business and civil society. The report, co-developed with civil society, provides an overview of the European Union’s progress and challenges on its path towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It includes detailed country profiles for all EU Member States and partner countries – including, for the first time, EU candidate countries. This year’s edition includes two thematic chapters: “The EU recovery and the SDGs” and “Transforming the agriculture and food sectors to achieve the SDGs”. Just like previous editions the report highlights SDG priorities within the EU, but also the need to use diplomacy and address negative impacts of unsustainable supply chains to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement worldwide.
