The preliminary results of the ongoing study about the “Municipal Development Co-operation in Germany” are based on a Germany-wide survey that was jointly implemented by the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval). Semi-structured expert interviews with representatives of selected municipalities and relevant institutions on federal and state level were conducted as well. In the workshop on 15 April 2021, trends regarding changing topics and actors as well as the funding needs of municipalities against the backdrop of limited local resources were discussed. More than 30 participants from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global as well as from state ministries, municipalities, the civil society and DEval participated in the online event.
