As members of the Johannes Rau Research Association, the DIE and the Wuppertal Institute (WI) have engaged in joint research exchange. The WI has been shaping debates on climate, energy and resource issues since its foundation in 1991. The virtual workshop focused the substantive cooperation of the two institutes on the following topics: environmental governance, sustainability (circular economy), impact assessment and transformative research (trends of change). Future strategies, such as those related to the MENA region or the use of hydrogen as a resource, were also discussed with a view to potential collaborations.
