On 16 April 2021, the federal working groups “Peace & International Affairs”, “Europe” and “Global Development” invited various experts to discuss the draft of the Green Party’s election programme for the parliamentary elections (for the Bundestag) in 2021. Prof. Dr. Imme Scholz focused on the contribution of development policy to the global socio-ecological transformation envisaged by the Greens, while blogger Manuel Müller (@foederalist) emphasised reforms of European institutions. Oliver Meier (Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy, University of Hamburg) responded to key issues of civil peace policy and nuclear disarmament.
All three experts agreed that more effective policy approaches are required. These approaches call for more interdepartmental cooperation as well as stronger support for joint approaches at the European and multilateral levels.
