Scholars gathered at the University of Göttingen at the end of September for the congress of the German Political Science Association (DVPW). This event, which takes place every three years, provides a platform to present research findings and discuss key trends in political science.
Dr Anna Novoselova and Dr Sebastian Haug represented IDOS with insights into ongoing research on multilateralism and global inequality. While Novoselova presented a paper on the role of the Group of 77 at the United Nations, Haug organised panels on North-South dynamics and China’s multilateral role, and presented papers on China’s strategies in international development politics as well as the contours and implications of current power shifts. Recent publications co-authored with Dr Max-Otto Baumann, among others, stood at the centre of discussions. DVPW’s congress is one of the central events in the German-speaking political science cosmos. Every three years, scientists from German universities and research institutions – and increasingly also from institutions abroad – meet there for four days to present research findings and discuss key trends in political science.
