MGG Network impact study presented at INSNA Sunbelt 2024 Conference

The Managing Global Governance (MGG) network contributes to sustainable development in various ways. At the 44th Sunbelt Conference in Edinburgh, Johanna Vogel and Wulf Reiners presented a study that systematically analyses the network’s success factors.

Cooperation in the Managing Global Governance (MGG) network creates impact towards sustainable development in various ways. Building on the continuously expanding set of MGG Impact and Change Stories as collected from network members, Dr Johanna Vogel and Dr Wulf Reiners presented an MGG impact study at the 44th Sunbelt Conference of the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA). The conference took place at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, from 24-30 June 2024.

In their study, the IDOS researchers propose an analytic framework that ties together the MGG network’s internal setup and characteristics to impact. In particular, the study develops a systematic connection of different types of network achievements of over 16 years across the individual, organisational, and broader system level, with enabling factors embedded in the MGG cosmos, such as infrastructure and culture of cooperation.

The Sunbelt Conference 2024 brought together more than 600 papers in about 60 thematic areas, representing work across more than 500 research institutions. The programme comprised workshops, keynotes, a poster session, and satellite events. More than 1,000 attendees reflected and discussed the use of a network lens to the analysis of systems with the examination of issues across the social sciences, mathematics, humanities, and science. Constituting a unique case where internal network monitoring, external network analysis and active network development opportunities come together, the presentation on MGG sparked great interest in the international expert audience.
