Every year in October, the city of Bonn celebrates United Nations Day (UN) with a public festival. UN organisations based in Bonn, along with many other internationally active institutions, including IDOS, present their work.

At the IDOS booth, visitors could learn about research on UN issues, particularly its contributions to the UN80 initiative. Many were also interested in the work of IDOS in general, with a particular focus on the implementation of the SDGs, measures to promote democracy, environmental governance and IDOS’s policy advice. The festival thus provided an opportunity to discuss development cooperation directly with people.
The three IDOS training programmes also attracted considerable interest: the Postgraduate Programme for Sustainability Cooperation, the Managing Global Governance Academy, and the Shaping Futures Academy. Many interested people visited the booth to learn about the content and entry requirements for these training and further education programmes.
The high number of visitors to the public festival demonstrates once again the great interest in the United Nations and the values it stands for. Especially in the current situation, which is characterised by multiple crises, many citizens are taking the opportunity to find out more about the work of the approximately 30 international organisations in Bonn.
